  President John Evans Atta Mills
President John Evans Atta Mills on Wednesday signed in Accra a Book of Condolence in memory of the April 10 victims of the Poland air crash.

President Mills wrote: "On behalf of the people of Ghana and on my own behalf, I wish to convey to the Government and People of Poland our deepest condolences on the loss of their dear ones. May they rest in perfect peace."

In a brief comment, President Mills described the loss as a difficult one and prayed for the good repose of the victims.

He expressed the belief in the structures put in place by the Polish Government to cater for the people in the absence of their President.

At least 100 persons, including Polish President Lech Kaczynski and wife Maria, and high Government and military officials lost their lives in a plane crash near Smolensk on their way to ceremonies to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Katyn Massacre on April 10, 2010.

The signing was witnessed by Mr. Claude Maerten, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Ghana, Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and some senior Government officials.
