human excreta dumped at the church auditorium |

Five people who allegedly desecrated the St. Peter’s Catholic Church at Adansi-Aboabo No.2 with human excreta, in addition to writing an insolent inscription, are currently in the custody of the Bodwesango Police pending further investigations into the case.
The suspected hooligans, who are residents of the village in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti region, are 41-year-old Prince Kwabena Awuah, Kwame Abdulai, 26, Kofi Police, 31, Akwasi Marfo, 23, and Kwabena Abdulai.
They were said to have been mobilized for the awful action by the ringleader, Prince Kwabena Awuah, to purposely desecrate the sanctity of the church building, following a dispute over a piece of land between him and the Aboabo Catholic Church.
The incident, which has horrified the community, brings to two the number of ‘shit-bombing’ cases within three months against the Catholic Church. The Martyrs of Uganda Catholic Church in Accra took the lead.
Frustrated by the church’s move to dispossess him of the land by dragging him before the Krontihene of Bodwesango, Prince, with his gang, on the dawn of Monday sneaked into the church auditorium and splashed human excreta all over the place.
The hoodlums did not spare anything, including the pews, plastic chairs, walls of the building as well as a place close to the altar where mass is celebrated. In addition to smearing the place with excreta, the culprits inscribed: ‘This is just the beginning.’
Unaware of the incident, members of the church were shocked when they turned up for morning worship on that day and discovered that the sanctity of the church had been violated, Peter Adu, catechist of the church, told DAILY GUIDE.
According to him, the church service, which was to come off around 5am, was suspended right away because of the strong stench.
The church has since been under lock and key on the orders of the Obuasi Diocesan Bishop, Most Reverend Gabriel Justice Anokye.
“The act came as a shock to us. Prince threatened to deal with us, though we never thought he could go to such an extent of smearing the church auditorium with human faeces,” he pointed out.
Speaking to DAILY GUIDE, the church’s choir master, Gabriel Donkor, who is also the headmaster of Aboabo No2 D/A Junior High School, said they were dismayed by the action of the gang.
He explained that the disputed land formed part of the plot of land belonging to the church.
According to him, the land was given to the church in 1980 by one Opanin Yaw Obinim, a member of the church and father of Prince Kwabena Awuah, leader of the gang, when the Obuasi Diocese was part of the then Kumasi Catholic Diocese.
In 2006, the church managed to put up the church auditorium and reserved a portion of the land for the construction of a mission house for its resident priest.
Mr. Donkor said after the death of Obinim, Prince, who was aware of the gift to the church, began to encroach upon the land by offering the reserved part for sale to the Methodist Church at the cost of GH¢400.
“The Methodist Church went back for its money upon getting to know that the land belongs to the Catholic Church,” the choir master explained, indicating that the church then gave out the land to a teacher to farm on it during this year’s farming season, but Prince would not allow it.
He disclosed that the church reported Prince’s behaviour to the head of his family, Opanin Kyei Mensah, who warned him to desist from tampering with the land, but Prince would not budge.
His family head then took the matter to the Bodwesango Krontihene, who was adjudicating the dispute until the ‘shit-bombing’ on the dawn of Monday.
St. Peter’s Catholic Church at Aboabo is an out-station of the St. Luis Parish at Bodwesango which had Rev. Father Charles Asamoah as priest, until his sex scandal with Janet Dwamena Agyapomaa, aka Yaa Kwahu.
