Many people around the globe travel for various reasons. Some for pleasure, leisure and adventurism, others for curiosity while some engage in travels for the purpose of exploring and acquitting themselves with history.

As a result of its rich cultural background, historical sites including Slave Forts and Castles, Flora and Fauna (Ecotourism), Ghana, over the last couple of years attracted lots of tourists from all over the world.

Besides these, the country has become a tourist destination to many discerning visitors as a result of the political peace the people are enjoying in the midst of the political turmoil, ranglings and Civil Strife prevailing in most countries in Africa especially the West where Ghana is situated.

Over the past five years, many leaders across the world and in Africa prefer to meet and discuss issues relating to Africa on the Ghanaian soil. This can not be said without regular participation of programmes and conferences being held in Ghana by the leading churches in the world i.e. The Roman Catholics, Protestants and Pentecostals.

Ghana derives enormous revenue from both internal and external travels emanating from tourist operations

In terms of national revenue mobilization, tourism as a result of tourist activities is said to be third.
